Affiliate marketers have a unique opportunity where social networking is concerned. Their Twitter page isn”t filled with links that take the reader to the same page every time. An affiliate marketer has the ability to fill their Twitter or Facebook page with links from a variety of affiliate merchants.

Popular Reasons Affiliate Marketers Are Not Followed

Link Spam: Too many people today look for link spam before they decide to follow or friend someone on a social network. Link spam is the primary reason affiliate marketers don”t keep followers. No one wants to read the same spammy message 50 times a day.

Most affiliate marketers promote more than one affiliate program. Don”t bore people with spam from one affiliate program, promote many and often. Use Twitter and other social networking websites to promote as many programs as possible.

Copy-Paste Errors: Consumers are not stupid. They can easily tell if your message matches 500 other messages posted that day. Don”t copy and paste messages from the affiliate merchant, be creative and create messages people read and click.

Masked or Shortened URLs: Social networking sites only allow a certain number of characters per message. Many times, shortened URLs lead the reader to spyware or virus websites. Let your friends, followers and other readers know that you are honest by posting a less wordy message and giving the full URL in your link.

Publish Affiliate Marketing Articles for the Holidays

Twitter allows 140 characters in each message posted. Facebook is a little more lenient and allows 400 characters per status update. MySpace allows blog posts and short status updates as frequently as you wish. Articles are limited only by the number of words you”re allowed to publish by most publishers.

Article marketing combined with social networking opens many doors for affiliate marketers. Write articles about the holidays, what they mean to you and how to find the best deals on items you promote. Link directly to the item and to your website in your author resource box.

Publishers love special holiday articles. Use social networking as an avenue for traffic after your articles have been published. Share links to your articles on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace.

Your friends and followers will come to trust your advice. Soon they will tell their friends and family where they found the best deal on products they purchase. Your readership will grow and profits will increase.

Holiday colors are bright and happy. They help promote a feeling of happiness and holiday shopping with your visitors. Simply changing the colors on your affiliate marketing website to reflect holiday fun increases sales.

Increase sales even more effectively by actually decorating for the holidays. Snowflakes, snowmen, and red hats with puffy white tassels remind people of the holiday season. These specific decorations have been proven to increase sales.

Decorating for the holidays and writing informative articles builds traffic and a readership. Promoting your articles on social networks shows readers that you”re serious about helping them find the best deal during the holidays.
