12 Must-Have SEO Tools With Firefox Extensions

If you”re an SEO professional, you know the importance of having a lot of different tools at the ready, both free and purchased, both desktop and web-based. And you probably already know the advantages of Mozilla Firefox over other free web browsers. But what you may not already know is that there are about 1500 extensions available for Firefox that may all but eliminate all of the other tools you”re using. Here are 12 that you need to know about and use.
1. FireFTP: This is an FTP client that allows easy access to FTP servers. It’’s free and secure, and is also a very intuitive tool. If you”re using a separate program to FTP, this will eliminate that need
2. HTML Validator: If your webpage is validated to W3C HTML standards, you”ll see a small green check on the corner of your webpage. If it doesn”t work, you”ll see a red check. Warnings produce a yellow exclamation point. HTML Validator also shows you enhanced source code that tells you where your errors are
3. NikkelWHOIS: You can see the WHOIS information for any page you visit simply by clicking a button located in the top right-hand corner of your browser
4. Professor X: Professor X shows you information located in the header without having to look at the source code. As the page slides away, you can see exactly what the header element contains. This includes script, style, and meta content.
5. FireBug: FireBug is a debugger console. It allows you to monitor CSS, HTML, Java, and Ajax.
6. IE Tab: If you”re tired of switching back and forth between Firefox and Internet Explorer while developing a web page, this tool lets you view Internet Explorer within a tab located in Firefox.
7. Server Switcher: This tool lets you switch easily between your development server and your live server simply by clicking an icon.

This information includes age, links, WHOIS, Alexa ranks, and Google PageRank. You”ll also find that the top of your search pages will include Google Traffic Estimator and Google Trends.
10. AdSense Preview: This tools lets you look at the Google AdSense ads that would show up on the page. If you”re thinking about putting AdSense on a page but don”t want to sign up for an account just to find out which ads will show up, this is a really helpful tool for you.
11. Yet Another Window Resizer: This tool lets you resize your window to check out different screen resolutions.
12. Screen Grab: Screen Grab takes a screen shot and saves it as an image file. If you”re currently taking a screenshot and cropping the image with Photoshop, this tool will save you a lot of time.
It’’s highly likely that you”re using other Firefox extensions that are making your job easier and more efficient, but if you haven”t tried any of the tools listed here, consider checking them out. Maybe they won”t be magical for you, but they”ll at least give you an idea of what’’s available if you just take the time to look around.
