Building a Loyal Following for your Blog

One of the unique and appealing things about blogging is its interactive nature. People can comment back to your posts, and you can create a kind of dialogue with your readers. Such a relaionship can build loyalty, but it’’s not always easy to achieve. If you”re just getting started, you need to be aware that there are millions of blogs already out there and you”re competing for their audience. It will take some time to draw some of these readers to you. Fortunately, this can be an enjoyable process and if you follow the rules below, you”ll get fans and repeat visitors that will make blogging a positive experience for you.
Rule 1: Guest Blog
Look around for blogs in your niche that are popular and well-respected. You can see them as competition, but you can get them to work for you. Just write to the owner asking if you can write some guest posts. Most likely, they will welcome a break, and this guest post will provide a link back to your blog. This will help increase your search engine rankings, and might attract some of that blog’’s readers to yours as well.
Rule 2: Write Great Content
All the backlinks in the world won”t help you if your content is no good. If people aren”t interested in what you have to say, they may look, but won”t come back. If you have awesome content though, you”ll attract some fans. You don”t have to be an amazing writer to make an impact. If you can express your thoughts and opinions clearly, that is what many people want to read and discuss. If your content is compelling, people will not just visit your blog, but link to it as well. These additional links can also lead to higher search engine rankings which will help expand your reader base even further.
Rule 3: Leave Comments Open
This interactive component to your posts is what makes blogging so unique and such fun. There are bloggers who close their comments because they wish to avoid spam, but they are missing out on the benefits of interactivity. People don”t just want to read, they want to share their opinions as well. Whether you agree with the comments or not, they can create interesting discussions that can lead to more links to your blog, and a larger readership.
The biggest part of blogging is about the readers, and the more you can draw in, the more successful you will be. Just follow the steps above, and watch them come to you!
