Christain Home Business Without Fear
By Chris Brown
I can”t do it! I will never make any money! There are too many scams! Are these your concerns when deciding whether or not to forge out on your own? Many people share your concerns. It is for you that I am writing today.
There are many fears when creating a new business. It is forging out on your own, in untested waters, and it leads to many questions. The goals are ever present in your mind - like financial security, time with family, quitting a dead end job or finally being free of a bad boss. All that is needed is to make your goals out weigh your fears, and you can move forward. The best way of doing that is to solve the problem.
Why do I say problem rather than fear? Well, when it comes right down to it, the fear is a manifestation of an underlying problem of lack of information. That is it? Yep. That is it. Get the information to fill the gap, and your fear becomes a memory.
So what about those most common questions?
I can”t do it. Well, this is a common defense mechanism sort of thought that creeps up when we are doing something new and don”t have the information. It is really saying: “I don”t know how to do it.” This is easily handled - find out! Too simple? Yes, that is too simple, but many modern Christian home based business opportunities provided by the better companies out there solve this problem for you. It is called mentoring.
If you find the right opportunity, they will simply teach you how to run your business, provide a person for you to call that will answer your questions, provide a startup kit that teaches the basics, and in addition, provide a community of other home business owners that you can work with. So you really can just find out! Call your mentor.
I will never make any money. The money is the main goal now isn”t it. If no money shows up for your efforts, then the entire effort is lost. Of course this is the whole reason for starting a Christian home business with a company that provides opportunities rather than starting from scratch. It is like buying a franchise. When is the last time you saw a McDonald’’s go out of business? By starting a business through a company that helps you, you save lots of time, and reduce your risk dramatically. The better companies will have everything setup as an almost step by step plan for you to follow. After all, they want you to succeed as much as you want to. Once your business is running, you can branch out and do other things too. But when you start, there is a huge value in having a helpful partner.
There are too many scams! This is another thing that is in the back of the mind of many a would be business owner. It is difficult to tell a scam from a real business unless you have tried to start with their business opportunity. So what do you do? Simply look at the materials that are provided.
Any reputable company will provide you with the materials that you need to clearly analyze the opportunity for a very reasonable cost. There should be no lack of information at this point. Many quality companies are vague before you sign up - but afterwards you should have full disclosure. Never pay a cent over $75 to get information that you need to analyze whether a business is for you. Most companies will be much below this.
Also make sure you can get your money back if you are not happy that the business is for you. This is important. If they don”t want to provide a return, then they are probably not expecting you to start a business with them! Skip it and move on. What if they charge for shipping? Well, this is probably fine. There are lots of people starting their own businesses, and some companies have become wary of what they call “tire kickers” - people who will order the startup package, only to return it in a few weeks. If they have non-refundable shipping, then that is fine, but is should never be more than $15.
There is another point about success. This is probably the most important point, and yet it is among the least asked. I will throw it in for good measure and will demonstrate it through a logical progression. It is simply this: If we are starting a Christian business, then we are obviously Christian. If we are Christian then we should be following the will of God in our lives. If we follow the will of God in our lives then we are guaranteed that our needs will be met by God. No, that is not “prosperity gospel” in the slightest. It is simply Luke 12:31. I won”t quote it here because you need to read the preceding paragraph in Luke to do God’’s promise any sort of justice. To paraphrase though, it says that what we need will be “added unto” us by God. Can you think of a more powerful and reliable benefactor? I think not!
So why spend your life working for a task master when you can be working for yourself - and for God - at home with your children, your spouse, and a promise of the things you need in life being - no, not being just one promotion away - but added unto you!
There are other questions and concerns that you may be asking yourself. I will try to address some of them in other articles in this series. But until then, you should find an answer to them. The answers are there. All you need do is search them out.
