The Baby Boomer\’s 5-Step Plan for Online Success

As the Baby Boomer generation retires or approaches retirement, a unique realization seems to be setting in - they”re not really ready to retire. This is the generation that learned in the sixties that anything was possible, in the seventies that life was fun, in the eighties how to make money, and in the nineties how to use technology. Now, in the 21st Century, they”re bringing all those lessons together. The Boomers now realize that creating a robust income stream after retirement is not only possible, but it’’s fun, it’’s lucrative and using technology, it’’s pretty easy. If you”re a Boomer and not yet involved with a successful online business, now’’s the time. Here’’s a simple 5-step plan for doing just that.
1. Get Excited About Money - For many Boomers, money was a means to an end. It was a way to keep score. They worked their jobs, paid the bills, bought a house, put some away. It wasn”t necessarily the focus. But let’’s face it - money is a valuable commodity. So start thinking about everything it empowers you to do, and get excited about bringing more of it into your life.
2. Leverage Your Skills - After a lifetime of working, regardless of what you did, you have a tremendous resource of skills and abilities. Sit down, and write out everything you”re really good at. You might be surprised at what comes out. Once you have this skills inventory in front of you, consider how you might leverage those skills today. Again, the answers might surprise you.
3. Do What You Love and Love What You Do - As you consider starting a home based business, decide what you absolutely love doing. And don”t limit this step to only business related activities. Maybe you love helping or teaching people. Maybe you love surfing the internet. It doesn”t matter, as long as your list reflects the things you enjoy doing.
4. Have Fun - You”ve worked too hard and come too far not to enjoy your life. So find a home based business that mirrors what you listed in Step 3. Have fun with it.
5. Plan for the Future - With all the doom and gloom in the news about the world financial crisis, many Boomers are uneasy about their future. It doesn”t have to be that way. Regardless of how old you are, think out 5, 10 even 20 years, and determine what your needs will be. Map those needs back to things you can start doing right now to prepare.
Starting and running a successful and profitable home based internet marketing business can be rewarding in many ways. Not only will it provide personal enjoyment and satisfaction, it will also provide an ongoing income stream. Invest this money wisely, and a sound financial future will be assured.
