Maximizing your Search Engine Traffic
By Roger Moore
The internet is an amazing network of literally over a billion computer terminals all over the world. Many think of the internet as a huge digital brain with accessible “memories”. The internet is live all the time. With so many websites and social sites out there there had to be a way to make it easy to find whatever you needed and this birthed the concept of search engines. The search engines have been around as long as websites really and the two go hand in hand.
Most traffic to your website comes via search engine traffic. If your not ranked in the search engines then your site is in “Cyberia”. The beauty of search engine optimization is that you can acquire thousands of unique traffic hits relatively easy if you focus on two key elements, on page optimization and off page optimization.
On page optomization is essentially the format and structure of your site. This includes all the elements like pictures, words, even captions. If you want your page to be optimized for search engines you will need to focus on the words and minimize all the other elements. Flash sites are not good for search engine rankings, you want to use a very basic site. They say that beautiful webpages get awards, simple ones get traffic!
Keyword saturation is one strategy that helps your page rank and this is focusing your sites theme into a keyword and writing your content to reflect this keyword. You would use the keyword several times in the article but also use variations of the keyword called supporting keywords. This is for example if you were to write an article on making money online, you could also write about SEO, Internet marketing, Affiliate programs, and so forth.
On page optimization accounts for about 10% of search engine ranking where by off page optimization is crucial. If that 10% is not optimized however it can hurt your efforts for your off page optimization strategies.
Off page optimization is things like link popularity, which essentially is how many sites have a hyperlink leading back to your page. Search engines rank link backs value based on the sites traffic and authority sites carry the most weight. An authority site is a site that gets tremendous search engine traffic to it and has a lot of other authority link backs to it as well.
A great way to get more traffic to your site is to start writing blogs and articles on authority sites like hubpages, squidoo, blogger, and especially ezinearticles and wordpress. You write a 400 word article and include a link back to your site, that’’s it. Over time the link backs add up and your search engine ranking will improve.
